  •  An original drama based on actual events about the life and missionary work of St. Junipero Serra

This EWTN original docu-drama, filmed on location in Spain, Mexico, and California, presents the life and heroic missionary activity of St. Junipero Serra. Each episode combines insightful commentary from noted experts and historians with dramatized recreations of scenes from the life of this Catholic blessed who played such a foundational role in the evangelization of the Americas. Quality hybrid

Review: Half drama, half documentary, the two DVD's split the five episodes between them. By mixing the immersive nature of drama with the informative nature of documentaries, you get the advantages and delights of both, but it also means you can never have either of those genres flexing their full muscles. Nonetheless, the mixture is artfully done. It is not a "big-budget" production, but manages marvellously with modest means to inspire and immerse nicely.

Review: I watch EWTN nightly for the daily mass and when this series ran for a week, I enjoyed it so much that I decided it was something I would like to watch again.
