St. Simon Stock

Saint Simon Stock is the patron of Bordeaux, France. He was a Carmelite in the 13th century and dedicated himself to spreading the Order throughout England, southern, and western Europe. St. Simon Stock is also known for revising the Rule of the Order to make them mendicant friars instead of hermits. Tradition holds that Saint Simon Stock had the Virgin Mary appear to him and present himself with the brown scapular of the Carmelite Order. St. Simon Stock’s feast day is May 16th.
