St. Augustine

St. Augustine was born in Africa to St. Monica. Augustine lived much of his life with materialistic ambitions, following false beliefs. Through his mother's prayers and the preaching of St. Ambrose, Augustine came to realize the truth in Christianity. He made amends for his life of impurity and he began to live in imitation of Jesus. Augustine was baptized, became a priest, a bishop, a Theologian and writer, and the founder of a religious order of priests. St. Augustine was declared a doctor of the Church, and considered one of the greatest saints that ever lived. St. Augustine is the patron of brewers. His feast day is celebrated on August 28.
