St. Catherine of Bologna

St. Catherine was born in 1413, daughter of a diplomat. She became a Franciscan Tertiary at the age of fourteen. She soon began to experience visions of Christ and Satan, and recorded these experiences. Catherine was admired for her holiness, and determination towards perfection. Catherine eventually became Superioress of a new Poor Clares convent in Bologna, and soon after became ill during lent of 1463. She died on March 9th. Her body was exhumed 18 days later, and was found to be incorrupt and remains so today. It is displayed in the Church of the Poor Clare convent in Bologna. St. Catherine is the patroness of artists. Her feast day is celebrated on March 9th.
