St. Christian Demosthenes / Gregory of Nazianzus
St. Christian Demosthenes is better known as St. Gregory of Nazianzus. St. Gregory of Nazianzus was born in Cappadocia in 330. He was friends with St. Basil and was a monk at his monastery, however he only became a priest unwillingly. He fought against the heresy of Arianism and became bishop of Caesarea and then later Constantinople. He is famous for his writings, particularly on the Holy Trinity and has been named a Doctor of the Church. He is called The Christian Demosthenes because he is often compared to a famous Greek statesman by that name. His feast day is January 3rd.
