St. Edmund Campion
Edmund was the son of a bookseller, raised Catholic, but converted to the Anglican Church as a young adult. Edmund began experiencing doubts about Protestantism, and in 1569 he went to Ireland to study, where he came to the realization that he had been wrong in his former convictions, and decided to return to the Catholic faith. Edmund was forced to flee to France during the persecution of Catholics due to the excommunication of Elizabeth by Pope Pius V. There, he studied Theology, and joined the Jesuit order. Edmund was eventually hunted down, imprisoned, tortured, and hanged. His feast day is commemorated on December 1st.
