St. Jacob of Nisibis

Jacob of Nisibis (also known as James) was the first bishop of Nisibis (a town in modern day Turkey). He was known as a miracle worker during his lifetime and was present for the famous Council of Nicaea. He built both a church and a schooling Nisibis and may even have attended the Council of Antioch. He died during the siege of Nisibis around 337 A.D. He is called the “Moses of Mesopotamia” and was influential in the life of St. Ephrem the Syrian.
