St. John Neumann

Saint John Neumann came to America in 1836 to live his life as a priest and missionary. He is famous for having known 12 languages and for being the first American man and American bishop to be canonized. St. John Neumann left his impact by building fifty churches, opening nearly one hundred schools, and growing the number of parochial school students in his diocese from a mere 500 to 9,000. St. John Neumann's feast day is January 5th.
