St. Matthew

Saint Matthew is the patron saint of bankers, accountants and bookkeepers. He is also the patron saint of tax collectors, guards and security forces.

Before becoming one of the 12 Apostles, St. Matthew was a Roman tax collector, a profession the Jews despised since they considered it to be a dishonorable and traitorous trade. However, Jesus came “not to call the just, but sinners.” St. Matthew left his position as tax collector and followed Jesus, continuing to preach even after Christ’s death and resurrection. In his Gospel he encourages those new to Christianity to persevere, as well as to convince Jewish readers that Jesus was the Messiah. It is not clear whether he was martyred or died a natural death.

St. Matthew medals are an inspirational gift for bankers, accountants and others who work with money. They are also wonderful gifts for guards and those who work in the field of security.
