Saint Walter of Pontoise is the patron of prisoners and prisoners of war. St. Walter of Pontoise was an Abbot during the 11th century . He sought a life of solitude but Pope Gregory VII refused to release him from his position on numerous occasions. St. Walter of Pontoise spoke out against simony and evil in the secular clergy which resulted in him suffering numerous beatings and imprisonment. While in prison Saint Walter of Pontoise led a life of mortification and intense prayer. St. Walter of Pontoise's feast day is April 8th.
