St. Apollonia lived during the third century, and was martyred for not renouncing her faith under the reign of Emperor Phillip. Apollonia had all of her teeth knocked after being hit in the face by a persecutor. She was thretened with fire unless she renounced her faith, but Apolloniia willingly jumped into the flames. She is known as the paron saint of dental diseases. Her feast day is celebrated on February 9.
