"Love all the extra insight! Very informative."
"These books give you great insight into the New Testament Bible. With it broken down into 12 books it makes it easy to read through in a year."
"These were recommended by Michael Voris on “One True Faith” Church Militant. com. I’m finally learning my faith and grateful to church militant for telling me the truth. The Navarre bible will help anyone seeking the truth!"
"Great set to have. Very explanatory of the scriptures."
"I am enjoying reading it. I especially like the commentaries which help me understand the local customs and beliefs at the time Jesus was preaching. I do wish the type was a little larger though. I am 70 years old and have a cataract. The type is larger though than the Bible I have, so this one is more of a blessing."
"So far, they are great. I have just started to slowly read them and I enjoy the clear explanations."
"I was going to buy individually each volume of the Navarre Bible-New Testament. So I search many stores and websites for the best deal. The Catholic Company had the best deal by far for a complete set. I was also able to take advantage of the free shipping offer. The quality of the books is very good. I'm very pleased with this purchase."
"We all need to use this reference to liven up the Word of God. Am I glad that I have it!!!! Best Uses: Older Readers, Special Needs, Younger Readers; Describe Yourself: Everyday Reader; Pros: Deserves Multiple Readings, Easy To Read, Informative, Well Written"
"I use this Bible every night when I read the daily mass readings. The comments are in paragraph form, and include both details explaining the text, as well as reflections from the Church Fathers, Magisterial documents, and saints (notably St. Josemaria Escriva). One thing I really love about this Bible is that it doesn't fall into the modern trap of hyper-skepticism, doubting the authorship and date of composition of every book of the Bible. It gives the solid, obvious reasons for traditional authorship (i. e. , the unanimity of the first 1,800 years of the Church, or the fact that the author inserts his name in the greeting). A good companion volume is Scott Hahn's Ignatius Study New Testament. This also provides an overview of the authorship debates. Scott Hahn examines the reasons modern critics doubt the authorship of each book, although it seems to me that he gives them a little too much credence, as opposed to this Navarre Bible. When reading Hahn's overview of their reasons, I found that their explanations crumble at the slightest touch. (For example, they say some of Paul's pastoral letters really weren't written by him, in spite of his explicit greetings in the beginning of the letters, only because they have a slightly different style than his other letters. ) The Navarre Bible doesn't go into as much detail about the thinking of modern scholarship (in my view probably because it doesn't deserve serious refutation), so the Ignatius New Testament is a good companion volume, especially since the paperback version is inexpensive. Best Uses: Reference; Describe Yourself: Bookworm; Pros: Deserves Multiple Readings, Easy To Read, Informative, Well Written"
"Just started to read so not able to comment. We are disappointed in the small print. It will be difficult for my husband to read and so he probably won't pick up too often. We thought with the individual books the print would be larger. I would only recommend to a few of our older friends just because of the small print. It was highly recommended by our young priest and he always makes good recommendations but I will have to check him out on print size the next time. Best Uses: Reference; Describe Yourself: Everyday Reader; Pros: Informative"
