St. Gerard Majella is the patron saint of expectant mothers. Pregnant women all over the world call upon his intercession for a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery. St. Gerard was a Redemptorist priest known for his virtue and supernatural gifts. On many occasions during his life his intercession aided women and children in difficult birth, and the same immediately after his death and burial. During his life he was also falsely accused of impregnating a women, but later cleared. This trial was an opportunity for greater sanctity through suffering. It is no coincidence that the patron saint of expectant mothers is not a woman or a mother, but a man and a virgin. St. Gerard was known affectionately as "the saint of happy childbirth." This statue was handcrafted and imported from Italy and is a wonderful way to display your devotion to this loved saint.
