Who We Are
We’re James and Whitney Hetzel. We co-founded The Catholic Company with our friends Bob and Jackie Gallagher with a simple goal: to serve Catholic families like our own. We’re based in Charlotte, North Carolina, where we’ve raised our nine children in a home rooted in the faith and sustained by the joy and laughter of a big family.
As a proud military family—three of our sons have served our country—we understand the importance of commitment, sacrifice, and building something that lasts. This business is our way of doing just that: offering faithful families the tools to deepen their relationship with Christ and live their Catholic faith daily.
Our Story
The Catholic Company was launched on the heels of September 11, 2001, at a time when the world felt fragile. In a way, our mission has been our response to the world's pain, tragedy, isolation and emptiness. It was our belief then, and remains our belief now, that the answer to all of our world's problems is a deeper relationship with Our Lord and specifically with His Catholic Church.
Nearly a quarter-century later, we strive to hold this belief as the center of our business, using it as a guide for each decision, from the hiring process to the copywriting on our emails. It is this belief that has kept our business going during the inevitable hard times.
