How many countries did JPII visit as pope?

The total number isn’t in the single digits. It’s not even in the double digits.

A Family Of Saints

It’s in the triple digits.

History’s most well-traveled pope visited a total of 129 countries during his twenty-six-year pontificate.

Of these, the top most-visited country was his native Poland, with nine visits (also where he literally helped topple Communism); then France, with eight visits; and our own United States coming in third place, with seven.

This translates to around 721,000 miles of travel. That’s like circumnavigating the earth 29 times! And wherever he went, John Paul II became known for a memorable gesture upon arriving: kneeling down and kissing the ground. For a pope who traveled farther than any pope before him, it was a simple way of showing affection and respect for the people and the land he had come to visit.

Among the many destinations was Peru, which Pope John Paul II visited twice, first in 1985 and again in 1988.

So it's fitting that we have a Pope Saint John Paul II Peruvian Roast Coffee to enjoy in his honor! Pair it with our JPII Stupidity Quote Mug, featuring one of the more humorous sayings attributed to this beloved pontiff: “Stupidity is also a gift from God, but one mustn't misuse it.”

It's a combination that might just make you smile over your morning coffee. Start each morning off with a good cup of delicious Pope Saint John Paul II Peruvian Roast Coffee from The Catholic Company today!
