Well...this is slightly embarrassing.
In yesterday’s email, we cheerfully referred to February as the Month of the Sacred Heart. It is not, and we, of all people, should know better!
February is the Month of the Holy Family.
June is the Month of the Sacred Heart.
July is the Month of the Precious Blood.
And March belongs to St. Joseph.
We talk about the Church’s monthly devotions in every Morning Offering. We even created an entire Good Catholic series, The Year of Devotions, devoted to walking through them month by month.
A few years ago, we ourselves did not know that the Church traditionally assigns devotions to each month of the year. We knew about May and October, and maybe even March. But all twelve months? That was new to us.
We were intrigued. And slightly surprised that we had somehow missed this profound rhythm of devotion tucked so beautifully into Catholic life.
We thought: if we didn't know this, others may not either. And that curiosity turned into a series.

The Year of Devotions quickly became one of our most loved programs. Catholics discovered that the Church, in her wisdom, gently guides us through the year, inviting us to meditate on the Holy Name of Jesus in January, the Holy Family in February (or the Passion of our Lord for the beginning of Lent) , St. Joseph in March, the Sacred Heart in June, the Precious Blood in July, the Rosary in October, and so on.
It is a steady formation of the heart that takes us through the year and draws us to the devotions that will ultimately help us to grow closer to Christ.
Which is why we are especially sorry that we managed to get it wrong.
Usually, we are fairly on top of these things. Normally, a second set of eyes catches that kind of slip. This time, somehow, it slipped past us.
So today we are doing what Catholics do best: a mea culpa, a humble apology, and a renewed appreciation for the Church’s beautiful devotional life.
If you have never explored the tradition of monthly devotions, this might be the perfect moment to do so. The Church gives us these rhythms not as trivia, but as invitations to immerse ourselves in the mysteries of Christ throughout the year.
If you would like to learn more about these dedicated devotions with us, you can explore our series The Year of Devotions at Good Catholic.
Because apparently, we could all use the refresher! Find yours today at Good Catholic.
