After years of scholarly labor and review, the first major update to the New American Bible (NAB) text in 20 years is approved for publication. The New American Bible Revised Edition (NABRE) accomplishes three major goals in Biblical scholarship: First, a more accurate translation aided by modern archeological and historical discoveries; second, a more consistent rendering of the Greek and Hebrew to more closely express the meaning of the original text; and third, revisions in the NABRE reflect changes in modern English usage of particular words (ex. "burnt offering" substituted for "holocaust").

Note:  The Catholic Bible readings used in the current missals & lectionaries & LOTH use an older version of the NAB translation that has now been updated in all the new NAB Bibles currently being printed.  For this reason, this NAB Bible will be close (but not exactly word-for-word) to the readings you will hear at Mass.  It is not possible to purchase an older NAB translation to exactly match the Mass readings, because they are no longer in print.

Print on Bible page is not as legible as depicted on line

"I received the new NABRE HARDCOVER BURGUNDY BIBLE and after checking the online depiction of the print and verse enumeration which I found legible and readable, opened the new bible to find the print faint, not clearly black and the verses faintly contained within the words of the verse. This made the legibility and ease of reading nearly impossible. Sadly I had to open the Bible to know these details and hence it is not in new condition I am disappointed that a Catholic Company lacks Christian ethics concerning its quality. I will donate this Bible and gladly absorb the nearly $60 investment. I will not advise others to use your services. Perhaps your Return Policy should be more prominently displayed."
