Three women approach the tomb of the Lord, only to find that He is risen! And an Angel of the Lord awaits their arrival in order to herald the news. At once they are awed, perplexed, and grateful to God as light streams from the tomb and the Angel announces the news. Painted in 1890 by the beloved artist, it is a beloved Christian image of the Resurrection.
