Infant of Prague Statue - 7.75"

The Infant of Prague has been a historical Christian devotion since the 1500's. The original statue was once given to St. Teresa of Avila by a noble benefactor.

Eventually brought to Prague by a Spanish noblewoman who returned it to a Carmelite monastery, it was revered for its association with miracles and became a symbol of trust in Christ's divine providence, particularly during times of hardship, such as wars and plagues.

Over time, the devotion spread globally, with countless believers seeking the intercession of the Infant Jesus for blessings, protection, and peace. Today the statue resides in the Church of Our Lady of Victory in Prague, Czech Republic.

This colorful rendition was crafted with great care and attention to the finest details by the artisans at Joseph's Studio. Made from resin and stone, the richly colored statue features the Christ Child with one hand raised in blessing. In the other hand, He holds the world, symbolizing His divine protection over all.

A distinctive gift of faith and devotion.

Devotion to the Infant Jesus of Prague

This booklet tells the story of the ancient devotion to the Infant of Prague and also contains the prayers for the sacred devotion to the Christ Child under this title.

"Have pity on me, and I will have pity on you. Give me my hands, and I will give you peace. The more you honour me, the more I will bless you."

The little child Jesus is King of the Universe. The Holy Infancy of God is an often unremarked-upon and yet wholly integral part of the mystery of the Incarnation. Not only did the Infinite God become a finite man, but He became a little baby, and a little boy. No devotion gives more honor and glory to this Little King than the devotion to the Infant Jesus of Prague.

The statue had its origins in Spain, with some saying it even belonged to St. Teresa of Avila. Taken to Bohemia by a Spanish noblewoman who married a Bohemian, the little statue of God was later given by her daughter, Princess Polyxena von Lobkowicz, to a Carmelite monastery in Prague.

Cast aside in a rubbish heap by the conquering Protestant King of Sweden, it remained there for seven years, with its hands broken off, until Carmelite priest Fr. Cyrillus found the statue and returned it to a place of honor. Since then, the famous devotion has only grown, and the Little King has conquered the hearts of many with His glorious rule of charity. May he conquer your heart too.
