This one, L'Innocence, was painted by William-Adolphe Bouguereau in 1893. Mary cradles the Christ Child in one arm and a spotless lamb in the other, foreshadowing the sacrifice of the Lamb of God. Painted after the death of Bouguereau's own son, it's a moving reminder of the sweet innocence and the sacrifice of Christ, and the humility of Our Lady as she embraced God's will.
