Bright reminder that God is bigger than division

"Another reviewer is concerned about the real depiction of Christ dying on the cross. As Catholics attending mass, this is something we addressed with our toddlers from the time they were pointing around the sanctuary since we have depictions of Christ's torture and suffering in the stations and on the crucifix. Speaking plainly about our faith and teaching very early on that life can end at any moment is not an issue, and actually, was something I greatly appreciated about this text as compared to glossy versions of faith that take away from God's magnificence and try to imply that perfection can be found on earth, when in fact it can't. I enjoyed using this uplifting text to address how to love everyone even when the devil tries to divide us. My 4 kids NOW range from 6 to 12, and this is on the simple side for my crew these days."

Made by God

"I thought the book, about how each of us as unique individuals is made in the image and likeness of God would be a lovely story suitable for my young grandchildren, ages 1-8. And it was at the beginning, but then as I was reading it to my 3 year old Granddaughter, it started talking about sin and how Jesus died for our sins. Not an appropriate discussion for someone so young. I am trying to find picture books with good Christian/ Catholic values for the very young without overly didactic or gruesome. I did not want to have to explain what died on the cross meant to a 3 year old. So I said, the end and closed the book."
