Product information

The well-known and very popular Catholic couple, Scott and Kimberly Hahn, have been constantly traveling and speaking all over North America for the last few years about their conversion to the Catholic Church. Now these two outstanding Catholic apologists tell in their own words about the incredible spiritual journey that led them to embrace Catholicism.

Scott Hahn was a Presbyterian minister, the top student in his seminary class, a brilliant Scripture scholar, and militantly anti-Catholic ... until he reluctantly began to discover that his "enemy" had all the right answers. Kimberly, also a top-notch theology student in the seminary, is the daughter of a well-known Protestant minister, and went through a tremendous "dark night of the soul" after Scott converted to Catholicism.

Their conversion story and love for the Church has captured the hearts and minds of thousands of lukewarm Catholics and brought them back into an active participation in the Church. They have also influenced countless conversions to Catholicism among their friends and others who have heard their powerful testimony.

Written with simplicity, charity, grace and wit, the Hahns' deep love and knowledge of Christ and of Scripture is evident and contagious throughout their story. Their love of truth and of neighbor is equally evident, and their theological focus on the great importance of the family, both biological and spiritual, will be a source of inspiration for all readers.

"One of the beautiful and bright-shining stars in the firmament of hope for our desperate days is this couple, the Hahns, and this story of their life and their conversion."

-- Peter Kreeft, Author, Back to Virtue

"Dynamic, fresh, and devoted are terms which describe the approach that Scott and Kimberly Hahn take to assist in the renewal of the Church in the United States. Now, with their conversion, they are admirably suited to assist Catholics in re-discovering the treasure that has been entrusted to them. My hope is that many people will benefit from contact with Scott and Kimberly Hahn through their stories of conversion."

-- Most Reverend John Myers, Bishop of Peoria

The Covenant Relationship

"I've read other books by Mr Scott Hahn but this book is a wonderful story of a Journey of a couple with a firm understanding of the covenant relationship between God and his people that extends to the covenant relationship between Husband and Wife. Christians often bounce around in their faith without focusing on any particular theological doctrine. The Hahn's seemed to focus on God's covenant with His people. A poignant 'discovery"" illustrated in this book is what sets the book apart from so many others on the Christian faith, a very easy description of what seemed such a complex doctrine. "". . . each Covenant that God made was the way he went about fathering his family down through the ages. His covenant with Adam was a marriage; the covenant with Noah was a household; the covenant with Abraham was a tribe;the covenant with Moses made the 12 tribes into a national family;the covenant with david established Israel as a national kingdom family; while Christ made the New Covenant to be God's worldwide or ""catholic"" (from the Greek katholikos) family to include all nations, both Jews and Gentiles"" (p. 46) This is simple guide from Adam and Eve to the new Adam and Eve down to each and every couple and family. This book is a shout out not only to protestants, anti-catholics and the like but to those who are members of the Church already but take the faith for granted. ""I have always wondered why so many Catholics never delve more deeply into the mysteries of their Faith. It has always amazed me to discover how each and every mystery is grounded in Scripture, centered on Christ and somehow preserved and proclaimed in the liturgy of the Church, the covenant family of God. "" (p. 125) From wife Kimberly's perspective, the daughter of a Presbyterian pastor with a long history in presbyterianism, she lamented ""I could not figure out why that it seemed to be that catholics worshipped Mary, even though I knew worship of Mary was condemned by the Church. Then I got an insight:Protestants defined worship as songs, prayers and a sermon, so when catholics sang songs to Mary, petitioned Mary in prayer and preached about her, Protestants concluded she was being worshipped. But Catholics defined worship as the Sacrifice of the Body and Blood of Jesus, and Catholics would never have offered a sacrifice of Mary nor to Mary on the Altar. This was helpful food for thought. "" (p. 145) To seal God's covenant relationship, the ultimate act of worship was to offer a sacrifice. But What(who) sealed the new Covenant? But What was the sticking point for Kimberly? the place of Mary. This is a crucial sticking point for protestants. I know this because I was a protestant myself. In revelation 12:17 ""Then the dragon was angry with the woman went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and bear testimony to Jesus. . . "" Just as in Genesis 3:15 where God says ""I will put enmity between you and the woman, between her offspring and you"" Protestants will concede that the offspring is Jesus but they have no answer for who the woman is. Genesis 3:15 goes a long way to also explain the sinlessness of Mary as well since enmity means complete separation. So as Jesus from the cross gives his mother whom he refers to as Woman, to John his beloved disciple he gives Mary to us as our spiritual mother to intercede for us as she did at the wedding feast at Cana and said ""do whatever He tells you"" pointing to her Son. Mary's example, perserverance and prayers always lead us to her son. She is never the object of worship but of reverance. so as in Revelation 12 we keep the commandments to Honor our Father and Mother by taking Mary as our mother, the queen Mother in the Davidic kingdom, as advocate of poor souls. This book is a Godsend for those who wish to explore most fully the covenant relationship between God and His people. Best Uses: Conversion, Covenant, marriage, Rosary, Struggle; Cons: marriage, Struggle; Pros: Conversion, Covenant, marriage, PRESBYTERIAN, Pro-Life, Protestant, Rosary"

This is a very important book!

"I read this book prior to converting from being a protestant to a Catholic. Now I lend it to others and got this one to lend out. This book does away with the false beliefs that protestants have regarding the Catholic faith. It was an important book for my conversion and I pray it helps others to find the one true church established by Jesus. Pros: Very easy to read"
