This wonderful nightlight is an example of a lost art form originating in the mid-19th Century known as the lithophane.  After a finely detailed wax mold is expertly carved, porcelain is poured carefully, and fired painstakingly. Light refracted through varying degrees of thickness in the porcelain achieves an evocative and lovely artistic image. When backlit by a bulb, the work of art becomes a distinctive way to lend a soft, warm glow to your sacred spaces. Made by a self-taught artisan in the USA with over thirty years of experience, this night light features an image of the famous Sassoferrato Madonna & Child. On-off switch below the lithophane.
