The sterling silver center is an antique-reproduction medal of the heart pierced with seven swords, each representing the Blessed Mother's sorrows: The Prophecy of Simeon, The Flight into Egypt, The Loss of the Child Jesus in the Temple, Mary meeting Jesus as He carried His Cross, The Crucifixion, Mary receiving the Body of Jesus from the Cross, and Jesus' Body being placed in the tomb. The sterling silver crucifix is also an antique-reproduction, and the sterling Our Father beads have been designed with attention to detail that enhances the beauty of the rosary. Genuine garnet gemstone beads -- authentically darker than many of the "ruby" garnet pieces around -- are smoothly sized at 7mm, and linked together on sterling silver wire throughout. A stunning rosary for anyone with devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows.

"I have a devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows and this Rosary is unique and gorgeous. The 8mm garnet beads are faceted; I wrap it around a piece of cloth when storing so the sterling silver doesn't scratch the garnets. The front of the center medal is Our Lady's heart pierced by seven swords of her seven sorrows. The back has the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Christogram, IHS. Originally, I planned to have our Bishop bless this, but ended up having my parish priest bless it using the old Latin Rite."
