The beloved image moves the heart, as an unknown Sister arranges flowers gently and lovingly for her Heavenly Spouse. The dappled sunlight illuminates the room and throws shadows on the wall and floor as she deftly fingers the flowers of His creation to make a gift for Him. Some have suggested it reminds them of St. Therese of Lisieux and a brown habit on a bench behind the nun might suggest that, but it was in fact painted 10 years before her birth.
Painted by Heinrik Olrik in 1863, it is a reminder of the quiet beauty and serenity that loving our Creator brings, and how even the smallest gestures of love move the heart of our Beloved. It is also a call to give thanks to our good God even in the simplest of actions as we entrust ourselves entirely to His care.
A faithful addition to any space, a sweetly serene image of abandonment to God and gratitude, and lovely holy art for home. Choose size.
