From Italian artist Giovanni Bellini comes this painting of "Christ Carrying the Cross," a work which he completed around 1510 in Venice. Currently housed in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, it presents a depiction of Christ which unveils the emotional and spiritual anguish which He endured during His Passion. The breathtaking detail of the wood of the cross, along with the expression of pain captured on the Savior's face, proves the talent of the artist and reminds us to bear our own crosses with love and courage.
