A monstrance (or Ostensorium) is a sacred liturgical vessel used in Catholic worship for Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, especially used during Eucharistic Adoration and Eucharistic Processions. Monstrances are richly decorated because they carry and display the Sacred Host, and are commonly sunburst in shape to symbolize the radiance of Christ’s glory.
