Born in 1971 in Italy, Chiara grew up as a normal, energetic teenager with a deep love for God. At age 17 she was diagnosed with a rare and painful bone cancer. Rather than despair, she embraced her suffering with radiant trust in Jesus, saying, “I offer my suffering to Jesus because I want to share as much as possible in His suffering on the Cross.”
Her serenity, kindness, and luminous faith touched everyone around her, earning her the nickname “Luce,” meaning “light.” She died in 1990 at age 18, offering her final moments to Christ.
