This arched, Florentine style diptych is made of wood with gold accents, and features the Archangel Gabriel as he announces the birth of the Messiah to Our Lady. Widely attributed to the Italian Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci, dated to c.?1472–1476, it was completed in Florence while he was an apprentice in the studio of Andrea del Verrocchio.

The painting was made using oil and tempera on a large poplar panel and since 1867 it has been housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, the city where it was created. This recreation has a hanger on the back or can stand upright on any flat surface. A distinctive gift of faith and beauty.
