This beautiful medal is made of zamac, which is an alloy, combining several base metals. It is often used in lower priced jewelry for its durability and cost effectiveness. The medal is made in Italy and our suppliers there use zamac for less expensive religious medals. It does not contain lead. It contains Zinc, Aluminum, Magnesium and Copper, which is how it gets its name - from the first letters of each.
