San Damiano Bronzed Crucifix - 11x16

• A twelfth century Crucifix
• Hand-painted in bronze tones
• Striking in character
• Indoor/Outdoor

Go repair my Church, which as you see is falling completely in ruin” – when the image of Christ on the crucifix at San Damiano miraculously spoke these words to Saint Francis, he was awakened to new zeal. The most prominent element of the San Damiano Crucifix is the figure of Christ. It is not the body of a corpse, but of God Himself, incorruptible unto eternity and the source of life. The symbolism of this Crucifix abounds featuring a portrayal of the Ascension; a company of holy angels; the Holy Virgin and Saint John the Evangelist; a small rooster recalling Peter’s denial of Our Lord; and the depiction of several saints. The Crucifix is made of resin that is lightly hand-painted in bronze tones and can be displayed inside or outside.
