St. Edwin

Saint Edwin was exiled as a youth as many kings thought him a threat to their rule and bloodline. Eventually he rose to power and became one of the most powerful kings of the Anglo-Saxon world. After considerable pressure from his wife and mother-in-law, he converted and had his children baptized. St. Edwin died in battle against a pagan army and is therefore considered to be a martyr of the Faith. His feast day is October 12.
